Dental implants are a modern dental treatment that offers a long-lasting, natural-looking, and functional replacement for missing teeth. They are the reason so many people living in the Jacksonville or Orange Park areas now turn to dental implants when replacing missing teeth.

Affordable dental implants offer a range of benefits that make them stand out as the optimal solution for missing teeth. Firstly, they provide a permanent and stable replacement for missing teeth because they are surgically anchored into the jawbone. This means that dental implants allow you to enjoy your favorite foods without any restrictions.

Moreover, dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, enhancing your appearance and boosting your self-confidence. With dental implants, you can smile, laugh, and speak with confidence, knowing that your teeth are secure and aesthetically pleasing.

Types of Dental Implants

All-on-4 dental implants – These are permanent dentures that are affixed to four titanium implants strategically placed in your jawbone. Two are placed in front and two are placed at an angle in the rear. Placing the rear implants at an angle provides extra strength for them so that bone grafts are often unnecessary. Since the dentures are permanently attached to the implants, they stay put. They never slip, and they never fall out. If you’ve lost teeth due to age, gum disease, decay, or injury, then the All-on-4 system may work well for you. One advantage to the All-on-4 system is that it requires fewer implants. This saves money, time, and discomfort, and it’s less invasive than a mouth full of implants. Most of our patients are very happy with their All-on-4 dental implants.

Individual Tooth Extraction & Tooth Replacement – There are different implants available to accommodate various needs and preferences. The most common type is an endosteal implant, which is placed into the jaw surgically. This type of implant is shaped like a small screw and provides a strong foundation for a single tooth or a dental bridge.

When the jawbone lacks the necessary density or height, subperiosteal implants may be recommended. These implants are placed on the bone, beneath the gum tissue, and are suitable if you are unable to undergo bone grafting or have limited bone structure.

Another type of dental implant is the zygomatic implant, which is used when you have severe bone loss in the upper jaw. This implant is anchored to the cheekbone, providing a stable foundation for the prosthetic teeth.

Implant-supported Dentures – Implant-supported dentures don’t need any extra help to stay put. They feature an overdenture that attaches to implants in the jawbone. These no-slip dentures offer enhanced security that makes smiling, chatting, laughing, and chewing comfortable and worry-free.

Dental implant dentures deliver impressive longevity. With proper care, the implants can provide a lifetime of service. Meanwhile, a quality overdenture, which is the piece that is visible when you smile and features faux teeth and gums, generally has a lifespan of 15 to 20 years. That’s noticeably longer than traditional dentures, which tend to have a lifespan of less than 10 years.
